Friday night I braved the rain to meet my friend for Warhammer in his office.  I trounced him (a nice change), and got free pad thai and cider for my effort.  Saturday was spent doing figure repair, movement tray building , and rearranging my display shelf to fit more stuff (the gamer's equivalent of "re-arranging my sock drawer").  Took a bit of a downward spiral on my mood, managed to create a decent mix CD (which a good friend got, so no worries there), and had a decent time at the party.  It took a lot of effort though.
Sunday was much sunnier, inside and out, and our DND game was filled with investigation and mystery, a highly satisfying session.  I picked up some food, and cleaned up.  Despite being a bachelor, I'm getting better at keeping a clean house.

The big news today revolves around work: My review was a 4/5, and I got a 5% raise!  I was only expecting 3, and prepared to get nothing at all.  Our company isn't doing to well right now, but I've already been told that our department is as small as it can get.  We are actually hiring in some areas, to squeeze more "efficiency out of the company", but I've been assured that my job is fine.  My raise combines merit pay, and equity to bring my income up with Shannon's.  Both of us have been here a long time, and both of us can do our work equally.  Now, our pay will be equal as well.  We have a number of big projects coming up this year, which will look very nice on my resume, and give me new things to learn.

Now THAT is a slice of fried gold!

It was great to have the good review, and the raise was completely out of left field!

Hey, congrats on the raise! That's awesome!

How did rearranging your display shelf and doing figure repair ruin your mood? You should be upbeat 'cause you got stuff done. :)

It's a double shot of esteem: kind words are great, they let you know how others see your work. The merit/equity raise puts some nice juice behind those nice words!

The repairs were handy, the rest is another story. Something I'll have to work on (mental pushups!)

Thanks! I was reminded recently that having a job these days is a good thing. With some of the projects coming up, I'll be learning more things about archiving, which is going to become a very important field.

This could be my best year here yet!

it is an excellent mix sir. very dance-y. I was even dancing in my chair at work and you know how embarrassing that can be. :)

It nicely accomodates slow, fast, and dirty dancing!

I'd suggest only doing the first two at work, though. :)

Nicely done!

I haven't gotten my review yet. I think my boss is procrastinating, which might be cause for worry except that she told me my raise Friday, and it was the goods. ;)

I have been giving out reviews for a week now (2 left), and I have to say, giving out a 4/5 (especially accompanying a nice raise) feels pretty darn good good too! I'm not looking forward to the one substantially negative one, though. It was written by another supervisor before he left the company, and he didn't pull any punches... :(

Thanks a bunch! We miss seeing you, busy man. The Colonial is looking like an awesome time this year, you're still coming right?

Thanks, it's been kind of nutty around here. Seniority comes with long hours at this place. :( On the plus side I've gotten some painting done lately. On the negative side it's all been 40k (for Adepticon) and Warmachine. The pile of stuff needing assembly and work for my WH Chaos army is still intimidating me. I may resort to a variation on dipping. I saw some impressive results recently at a local store.

Almost forgot- yes, I am still planning to attend. I hope I still have a car seat and a bed reserved! ;)

If worse came to worse, you could borrow Jim's Chaos army for the event. Screw Warmachine, and get that Chaos painted!

Your car seat and room are still reserved. Don't forget the big sushi dinner on Saturday! Also, the Drinkhammer challenge with the Warmongers. Five of our best v. five GT winners (Larry, Kevin, Rob, Matt, and Nidal).

PREPARE FOR GLORY!

Drinkhammer?!
