conflicting carbohydrates

I'm very tired lately. Today my lunch nearly knocked me unconcsious, which tanked my mood to boot. I know that a heavy carb lunch (like rice stir fry) will cause you to crash and get very sleepy. Carbs are also needed to give you energy when you are working out. I've been slacking, but I mean to get back into it. I'm really tired of (heh) getting tired at work. Gotta love that eternally depleting fleshy prison we're stuck with.
What do you eat for lunch that gives you energy? What do you eat that knocks you out?

Date: 2006-10-16 10:45 pm (UTC)Basically, I try to put at least as much protien in my lunch as fiber or carbs. I also take a multivitamin in the morning and a b-complex at lunchtime.
Maybe try having the heavier (less fiber) carbs only on days you're working out and not for lunch but for a snack closer to the time you go to the gym?

Date: 2006-10-17 01:36 pm (UTC)I didn't drink alot of water yesterday, practically none as I think back on it. So some dehydration may have complicated the headaches and miserableness yesterday.
Sadly, most of the meals I make have rice as a major component these days.
