Holy crap!

I've heard this new band at ManRay which sounds like VNV Nation, but in a good way. I tried to remember some of the lyrics, and tracked it down on the Interweb. The song is called forever, by a band called bruderschaft. Now I know why it sounded familiar.

The vocals are done by Ronan Harris and Stephan Groth (VNV Nation and Apoptygma Berzerk), Joakim Montelius from Covenant does the programming, and Sebastian Komor from Icon of Coil does the music. The CD is the one song, remixed about a dozen times, and all net profits will be donated to charity for cancer research and treatment.

It's the epitome of synth-pop, but good synth-pop.

The song is damn awesome, and I will not be downloading it.

So, it's like a synth-pop supergroup? Like Damn Yankees? Why am I up this early?

That is exactly what it is. Like PigFace Lite.
As far as I know, they only are together for this one benefit song.

Some mysteries defy rational explination...

can you take me hiiiiiiiiiiiigher.

wow.... I thought it was total crap. the whole brudershaft project was hyped constantly for months and months - the supergroup of 2003 and all... and the tracks were less than spectacular.

the release itself it lame. 50 remixes of a single song. BORING.

We couldnt even sell the thing at the store - still have like 8 copies in stock. no one wants it. (and detroit as a LOT of VNV fans)

I didn't like it much either. It was VNV by-the-numbers. Sounds like a VNV b-side to me.

I am not difficult to please.

One could also argue that it's a telling commentary on the synth pop scene in general.

Is there anything new in the ebm/industrial genre that you recommend, or have you pretty much sworn off that scene?

[identity profile] electrocreep.livejournal.com 2003-11-29 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really follow it anymore, and I don't go out to clubs, so i'm afraid i'm not gonna be much help to you there.

What are you listening to these days?

Try not to hate me for liking it!

[identity profile] silas7.livejournal.com 2003-11-29 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't hear any of the hype about the album, so I had no expectations to be let down.

I like the song itself, I thought that so many remixes of it was a little much.

I'll bet it would see a lot more if it were just a 3-4 song EP. I don't really expect a lot from synth pop bands as is, and it's enjoyable to dance too.

Oooh thanks for the recommendation. I am going to see if Amazon has it (heh).

Yeah, it's like a synthpop uber-group. I find that Ronan Harris' vocals make it sound too much like VNV, personally. However, I highly recommend Alfa Matrix, the Belgian label that Bruderschaft is on. They have a ton of good up-and-coming EBM/synthpop acts.
