With enough forsight, I can provide for the boredom factor. Usually with some variety of goof-off work. I would rather be learning with my spare time, but it's hard to push yourself.
The pay cut would provide with a very busy workday (plus getting to know new people, and a new layout) but I'd have to adjust a lot of things in my life. Right now that's not a good trade off.
tough one. but I think I'd stick with the boredom (since it's dead time that's boring you, right? time that, in theory, you could use to do interesting things)
Indeed. It just requires a kick in the but sometimes. I borrowed a book on Linux red hat, and right this second my progeny laptop just locked up. Here's something to fill my time... and look at that! 10 minutes till I can leave!
you could buy enough booze, hookers and drugs to amuse yourself endlessly with 5k.
heh....
erm...i'd go with the money, which is odd, because generally i'm relatively idealistic, but what with the market and stuff, switching jobs and losing pocket change seems risky.
Well, would the pay-cut jobbie provide for good new experience and technical skillz?
If it does, and it appears to be a good chance to learn new stuff that you will be able to put to good use (i.e. ask for more than you are currently making or finding a better-paying job after some time), I'd take the cut -- as it would really be a sort of investment (or gamble, but I've always had better luck at the tables myself!).
yeah, maybe it's just the unemployed girls for this....but if the pay cut offered opportunities for raises and advancement, i'd jump at it - it'd just be a temporary loss then, and experience *is* worth so much more in the long run.....
enh.
