See the Two Towers.
Then see it again.
I know you're going to see it (unless you have absolutely no interest in fantasy), but really, I mean, SEE it.

Breath taking, epic, exhausting, touching.

Incredible.

even if you don't like fantasy, see it.

it's that good.

btw, someone mentioned at the theater that the wiseasses in the crew slipped in some action figures in random scenes and jackson didn't see them when they were cutting the film. there was too much going on and too many pretty things to look at. i didn't spot any if they're in the movie.

there's an interesting piece in Wired about how advanced the Lord of the Rings battle AI is. Apparently, every Uruk-Hai and Rider in the Battle of Helm's Deep is a relatively autonomous CGI actor that is basically deciding to attack, defend, parry and thrust on its own initiative. I'm now imagining a LOTR-modded copy of Age of Mythology with really good graphics.

yeah. very true. i knew beforehand that the battles were going to be computer generated. i tried to pick out when who were/weren't generated. honestly, you can't tell.

Saw it this afternoon. I greatly enjoyed the movie (and almost attacked the people in the lobby saying "Well, in the books this doesn't happen until later and this goes earlier and wah, wah, wah I'm a fucking geekstick" but probably not as much as the first film. Some of the plot points just seemed to come out of nowhere. Not to say I'm not salivating at the prospect of the next one, but something about this installment left me slightly cold.

Badass fight sequences, though.
And dwarf throwing is always good comedy.

See, i knew someone would have to not like it.
although you don't see to not like it as feel slightly cold.

gollum was amazing, as were the fight scenes.
it's also interesting because the majority of the dialong is the same, and it's coming from a book that was written a long time ago. it is a movie out of time and place, like a really snazzy remake of an old 30's movie.

all the geeks must hang, so the rest of us can enjoy the movie ;)

i also need to reread the book and see where things changed.
