It's funny.

My normal mode of greeting people at work was to say "hey" as we passed by. A short, upbeat delivery, and then I'm on my way. After a while I decided that it seemed too abrupt or even dismissive. So I decided to respond with a longer, drawn out "hellooo". I was enable to make this switch in behavior in about two days. Now it's the new default.

If only further behavioral programming was as easy to do as that.

For some reason this reminds me of a comercial of some Cowboy walking into a New England bar. One bar patron greets the bartender with "how ya doin'" and the bartender replies with "how ya doin'". Then one of the patrons greet the cowboy with "how ya doin'" and the cowboy replies with a "Not too bad, just got up this morning and had a good breakfest..." and he continues on for a bit. He keeps responding that same way each time someone asks him ,"how ya doin'"

Kind of makes you think why we ask "wassup" and never expect an answer to the question. So why do we ask it?

The first thing I thought of when I read "hellooo" was Mrs. Doubtfire...
