Time flies

So here we go, the highlights from the past month.

Naomi and Chris Linder threw a wonderful birthday party hosted at Crossfit Somerville, one of JT's affiliate gyms. Chris and company added lots of fabric, cushions and audio visual displays to dress it up, but I smiled when I saw stacks of weights used as tables, or barbells masquerading as coat racks. There were many fabulous outfits, costumes, and masks. My Venetian styled mask went over much better than I expected! All in all it was a fabulous night

Sunday January 27 I finally picked up a floor mat for my car, and a new set of wheel covers. I also grabbed a few pints of oil I knew I was low, but I had to deliver computer parts on Monday and didn't have time for the oil change. I took a look under the hood, but couldn't find where the oil was supposed to go. The next day January 28th my car started making a horrible noise and lost power as I was en route to Mashpee. I had it towed up to Boston and found the engine has seized. The culprit? Lack of oil. The good thing was I didn't waste anytime browbeating myself over the situation. I checked my finances, weighed the cost of a new engine vs. the blue book value of my car, and made a decision. February 8th I turned over my title and keys for a small check, and watched a tow truck take my car (the Silver Bullet) away for good. I left the wheel rims on, but did rescue the floor mat!

February 1-3: TempleCon! Another year, another weekend of Warhammer, board games, top hats, and sleeplessness! I had a good fun chatting with people over board games (Ireally like flashpoint) and people-watching in general. I took an underpowered army with an underpowered list and still went 3-2 with it. I was quite pleased, and am looking forward to refining the list over the next few months.

February 8: Winter Storm Nemo dumps two feet of snow in a day over Arlington. TCB close the office, so I did some work from home while I painted and watched the snow fall. I dug out most of the driveway on Saturday ,but we still couldn't get to the street. The T was shut down all weekend, but was running in a crowded capacity on Monday. Which brings us up to date.
The storm put a kibosh on Chinese New Year dinner, but that will happen later in the month.

Fun things are coming up: the Post Mortem Valentine's Day party, Chinese New Year, and shopping for a new car!

The good thing was I didn't waste anytime browbeating myself over the situation.
I was re-watching some of Downton Abbey over the Snowpocalypse weekend and was reintroduced to this choice bit: "When something bad happens, there's no point in wishing that it had not happened. The only option is to minimize the damage."

Always worth remembering that.

I was amused that, when we were doing some preliminary setup for the Masquerade the night before, JT was asking the hosts for guidance on how to reconfigure the weights and apparati for the party and he said, "remember, I'm going to have 12 strong and heavily motivated volunteers. Feel free to make them do whatever."

Duuuuude! Sara told us that you were going to be at Templecon and Eric tried finding you! Unfortunately, I was pretty stationary being in my tail; up until they made a rig for me to be able to be pushed around in on Saturday. Either way, we couldn't find you!!!! What room were you in? ;(

We will investigate oil together with your new car.
It will be a good time. :)
