When you try to order new backup tapes, and your manager says to wait while they double check the budget, and ask you to use old ones...

should you start worrying?

We've already gotten the speech that they aren't hiring a new help desk person (we don't really need one) and that the budget cutbacks for next year are gong to be tight... but I'm not going to worry about that now.

The first signs are usually the following disappearing:

-- The rented plants
-- The temps
-- The aquarium fish, and then the aquarium, in the lobby
-- Bosses, for long periods of time, behind closed doors

They have already cut back on cups for the water dispenser, and reduced the number of first aid stations.

Sigh.
