Every step I take on my sore feet brings back the memory of how they got that way: playing ultimate frisbee in the rain, then dousing our over heated bodes in the pond.

When I put my face in my blanket, I smell the sweet aroma of smoke, and I remember how it got that way:  standing at the edge of the circle, staff in hand, blanket around my shoulders.  You look like a king, she said.

I see my face in the mirror, red and rough, and I remember how it got that way:  learning how to move my hips in the saidi rhythm, or bending a staff around my neck and shoulders.

I'm back in my office right now, but I feel a taste of that same sensation that Lindau Nemesis spoke about: a disassociation, a dislocation.  My body is here, but my mind is still in the woods, and when I close my eyes I can still see the wheels of fire.  It was not a perfect weekend, there were major highs and some deep lows.  But at the root of it, I learned.  I learned new techniques and new skills, which I expected to.  I learned more about myself too, and my place in the world.  When the fall comes around, I will return to burn brighter than before.

In between, there will be more fire.  Oh yes there will.

I am very happy you had a good weekend. :) You were missed at Thud and I do hope to see you dancing at Machine this weekend. :)

Oh, I wanted to go to THUD, but after laundry and groceries (which were essential after the long weekend) I literally couldn't get up. :)

I guess I'll just have to make up for it on Saturday. *evil grin*

The best trips tend to come with a slump once you get home. Sounds like you had an awesome experience, I look forward to hearing stories in person. :)

I'll be happy to share my stories, very soon! (along with Fray, which I'll bring this weekend. And some cash-ola)

Having been there with you, and seeing your joy with my own eyes, I want you to know I was kindled too, my friend :) And was that lake/pond awesome, or what?

It sucks that you can't make it to the 4th, but I'll think of you, and make sure to get photos and video for my first poi burn. You get some of your trip too, man!

There will be more fire, oh yes.

I'm glad you saw it too, that way I know I'm not crazy!

I was heartbroken to hear about the 4th too. Maybe you'll just have to have people up another time, for spinning and general amusement!

(I so wish we could burn in our driveway, but being on a main street makes it tough.)

The pond was indeed awesome: beautiful in the morning, and filled with beautiful people later on ;)
