My ceiling started to leak at work.  I left it with a few buckets to catch the falling water, I didn't know how bad it would be when I arrived in the morning.  Last night, the power went out briefly all down the Arlington side of Mass Ave.  Black outs are always a surreal moment, it's like stepping into another time.  No internet, no electricity, the night grows darker and deeper.  Candles bring more than light, they bring community and wamth as you huddle around them.  The power returned shortly, and with it the rest of the world.

This morning there was no deluge in my office, the water must have stopped dripping shortly after I left.

I picked up a new book the other day the scent of shadows by Vicki Petterson.  Definitely influenced by Laurel K. Hamilton, I thought it was an outrght clone and briefly considered putting it back down.  Several chapters later, the book is coming into it's own.  No vampires so far, just supernatural agents associated with the Zodiac waging a shadow war in Las Vegas, the original Sin City.  I think I'll finish it out, as it could be getting interesting.

We had three blackouts last night, but luckily they were all pretty short.

my clock indicated we were without power for 5 hours - but thankfully it was back on by 10...

The most memorable outage I remember was a few years ago. The power went out around midnight, and it was insanely hot, like 95 degrees AT MIDNIGHT. Clay and I sat outside, I laid down on a bean bag chair on the street, thankful for any little breeze that came along.
