jchrisobrien: (big trouble!)

After the results of my sleep study this week, I'll know whether I need a new mattress or not.  Getting out of debt would be nice, but why should I be different than the rest of you?  That just leads to putting on airs.  I can look forward to solid nights of deep, restful sleep.  While I"m at it, some new footwear may be a necessary commodity.  Some good waterproof boots for sure, since winter is coming up.

Edit:  Mattresses are EXPENSIVE.  Just a statement of fact

I talked to someone online, and they said a boxspring plays a big part in how your mattress works. I know my boxspring is old and crappy. That is probably a big factory.

My roommate thinks my bed is already too soft, and I need something harder.
The jokes just write themselves after that line. ;)

Monthly financing can also be my friend. I have one more week of research to do, then I can make my decision.

I was able to sign up for a credit card with Jordan's Furniture when I bought my mattress, and since it was 0% interest for a year, I was able to make payments on my own schedule over that time period.
Another thing to listen for are the ads for mismatched boxsprings and mattresses (different colours).
I'm not convinced that the box spring plays a huge part in sleep comfort, as long as it hasn't worn out (springs broken, squeeking horribly), it's just there to support the mattress.
Here's an article that I read before going shopping (mattress buying tips returns some good stuff on google as well):

That was an excellent article! It's nice to see behind the curtain, so to speak. After next week I'll have a better idea of what my mattress plans/needs will be.

I should just go with a big king sized futon/pillow thing. All the cool kids have them :)

Cordaroys.com, you know you want to. ;) It is much cheaper than a regular bed, but I'm not sure how good it would be for your back. Though I've been mildly obsessed with the idea of paving my room with tatami mats (they're springy enough that my foot didn't hurt at all while I was walking sock footed through tatami rooms) and found a link for a half queen sized one:
click, though having to get two of them plus a queen sized cordaroy would be a bit expensive...
