So much to tell, so little time.
Another weekend filled to the brim with goodness of all varieties. Take Friday evening for starters, where my one shot game stretched into a two parter, with a third installment waiting in the wings. The pacing was a little slow at first, or so I thought. Yet I received lots of good feedback, so things must be proceeding nicely. It makes me happy to know that despite my earlier fears of burning out, there are plenty of gems in the mine, or mind as the case may be. *grin*
Saturday was a full, somewhat frustrating, yet "rewarding" card tournament. It proves the theory that any deck can have a bad day. I just didn't get the match ups that I wanted, and there was plenty of wheeling and dealing going on, which really bugs me. In the end though, I won a prize for "deck that should have done better." which is better than nothing! It should also be noted that we have a very good crowd of local players, which makes every game very grueling.
Home for a quick shower, then to make the transformation from Gamer to Rock Star! M & M were leaving their apartment, and wanted to have one last great sendoff. And boy did they! All the furniture was moved out, nothing but blank space, two live bands (one being Scissorkiss who put on a truly splendid show) and rooms full of beautiful people in shiny clothing. It's a bit of a rarity for people to get really dressed up for parties, which made the occasion all the more special. I stayed well on into the morning, riding a current of alcohol and music and cameraderie. Until about 3:40 or so, just before the police came.
Sunday.
Must. Get. Up.
Movement. Taxing. Break in new sneakers. Playing tennis in hot sun. My body begins to wake up. My mind has a ways to go. Riding in the air conditioning on the way to see Jay and Silent Bob with Mat and Regina. Meeting Raul in the theater, and enjoying the movie. It was hella funny, had a few pacing problems, but when the star's of your movie are Jay and Silent Bob, this is to be expected. By this time my brain is up and moving again, but the body has just about had enough. And when your body is tired, there nothing like monotonous repetitive tasks to help kill the time. Like sorting new cards back into place, sitting in the middle of a giant bed, the cool air drawn over your body by a fan.
Sometimes the lack of space in my room bothers me. There's a small strip of floor around the bed, only large enough for one person to fit in. But I can recall my cookout's when my bed is full of people laughing and watching bizarre web pages on my computer, and I think: there is room enough.
I lay back on my bed, eyes closes, listening to their laughter and comments in my mind.
And surrounded by the ghosts of good times past, I surrender to sleep.
