I tried to keep my last entry spoiler free.  If you want to talk about anything from Ep 3, you can comment here.  Fair warning, there will be spoilers aplenty, so don't read if you haven't seen it (or you just don't care).

He was in the movie briefly. Just really as a cameo, I'm afraid.

Are there really any spoilers though? Basically you know how they all end up because of these being prequels. Hell, they even follow the source material like the RPG and all the novels!

really, there aren't. Things like how Mace Windo bites it, who fights who, Anakin's actions at the Jedi temple. Those kind of things are mild surprises. You don't know that Padme dies in the movie. or How exactly the Jedi go out.

I'm not sure if this is a spoiler or not...but Anakin becomes Darth Vader! I was totally blown away by that!!!!

In seriousness, or what seriousness I can muster for SW...I agree with Eric's review. The action scenes were nice but I never cared enough about the characters to actually get involved in the movie. If this is supposed to be some huge epic tragedy, shouldn't we actually care about Anakin? Instead I just was waiting for the next big scene so we could get past the horrible dialogue and complete lack of character development.

A lot of people hate Hayden/Anakin, either his acting or the character. So, no amount of writing in this film could save that for people. If you hated II, I don't think there's anyway you could like III. I didn't hate him in II. At worst for me he was pouting and annoying. I thought his character DID develop.

In episode II, he was whiney and petulent and half-cocked, hence him getting his ass handed to him by Dooku. In this film, he's matured but is still conflicted. He struck down Dooku on Palpatine's goading (giving in to the dark side), but he questioned it, he knew how he was supposed to act. The other Jedi didn't trust him and pushed him away, and Palpatine fed off that.
I was actually surprised when he initially rejected Palpatine and turned him in, I thought he was going to go over then and lead Mace into a trap.

I wanted to know why Anakin turned. Obi Wan told Luke that Anakin was seduced by the dark side, yet a lot of what led Anakin there was his love for Padme, or his fear of losing her. He was filled with fear, and while the Jedi noted that, they didn't really help him with it. Yoda's advice was to distance himself from his emotions, while Palpatine told him to feed off them.

Anakin was conflicted up to the end, and he saw Mace particpating in what he saw as rebellion against a legitimate government, and that Mace was going to kill Palpatine instead of put him on trial, betraying the Jedi values on not killing a defeated enemy. He choose, thinking he couldn't go back, and took the only road open to him at that point.

Ok I saw it yesterday.

Action and lasers and more lightsaber battles than you can shake a stick at. Hooray!

I think that Hayden did a good job...really agree that there was some maturity on his part.

Ewan's the man!

I did not like:

Padme sitting back for the whole movie and crying. That really struck me as against the whole Star Wars ideal of strong women taking charge, which we've seen in most of the movies until this point.

The giant ham-faced Palpatine. He becomes a silly grotesque Muppet after a while... the cackle gets tiresome.

I had to laugh at the cheesy-ness of the Vader transformation scene:

Vader: Yo, where my baby mama at?
Palpatine: You killed her or some shit, dawg.
Vader: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
(Room shakes, stuff breaks).
Palpatine: You need to CHILL, my man. Have a shot of Henny.

I mean, COME ON. That was worse than Kirk's "KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!" in Star Trek 2.

All in all, I enjoyed it and would like to see it again soon, but I left feeling slightly disappointed.

Padme got the short end of the stick. I guess there's not a lot of room for action when you're pregnant. At least you know from the first few movies that she can kick some ass. She was definitely underused, and was just weepy when she was there.

It was a little silly seeing a muppet fight an old man, but overall I liked the throwdown between Yoda and Sidious. The way Yoda contemptuously took out the guards? awesome.

I didn't like the ending with Vader either. Heatray said that Star Wars is rooted in the pulp genre, and that ending was very appropriate to the pulp era. I can accept that, but it still rubbs me the wrong way.

Now if Vader had screamed KAAAAAAAAHHHHHNNNNN, THAT would have been hella sweet.

I have to say that I really like the political aspects of the movie. Lucas and Stoppard obviously put in lines like "My resolve has never been stronger" and "This is how democracy dies" as a push again W. Good for them.

I think that there needs to be a Star Trek/Wars comic crossover. Yoda and Spock would be able to kick some Dark Side ass.

SPOILER!
