Life is fine, I'm just tired

Some people can survive very well on five hours of sleep. I am not one of them.
Sin City was sinsational. I haven't read a lot of Miller's pulpy noir novels (except for the long hard goodbye), so most of the movie was a surprise to me. From the people I've talked to and blog entries about the movie, they have covered pretty much everything that I could say. The extreme violence was undercut by the fake blood colors or silhouettes, making them a little more palatable. The violence and T&A content was high, but we're talking about a particular style of film/comics. The dialogue was corny at times, but this is a noir comic and again in character. The actors all did an amazing job, several of them I pledged to look up on IMDB to see what other works they've been in. Sin City showed that you can stay close to the source material and have a great comic movie, if you're source material is really good. Having a real life crime story instead of super heroes doesn't hurt either. I fear Jessica Alba will not fare nearly as well in the Fantastic Four as she did in Sin City.
Saturday afternoon was most unsatisfying, so I spent more time painting, and I broke tradition by going out to 80's night. I was rewarded by finding several old faces, and spending a brief bit of pleasant time with labellemargeaux and spitcurl. Then there was some dancing, and appreciating of fine new wave music. I didn't miss the time lost as we switched our clocks.
Sunday. More time painting, with a great payoff. We learned the perils of side quests and random encounters in our DND group, as I was the only active player left standing (levitating really) after a particulary brutal encounter. The sight of my necromancer leading my animated companions back into the city was highly amusing. Well, I thought so. But then there was the lack of sleeping, the tossing and turning, the clicking and scratching in my room that sounded like angry ghosts.
All plans might be called off due to extreme exhaustion tonight. We shall see...
