All the news that's fit to print

thanks to wsmith for proving a ride, and sirendipity for meeting up to turn over some of her furniture. It will be well appreciated I'm sure. I also got a little education in Baroque music on the ride back.

The club was a ghost town. One DJ managed to clear the floor pretty consistently, though he did play a few tracks that almost got me moving. Shiver was kinda amazing. A handful would start dancing, then it grew and grew and multiplied and soon the dance floor was full. As full as a ghost town gets, but I had a good time while I was moving.

I'm about at my limit for snobbery, though.

was it Kryztov?

no, he wasn't spinning last night. I'm not sure who it was.

I believe the other guest was Ionnokx, who's in Mindfield.

Ayup, that was him...

I hope you don't think I'm snobby! i'm just never quite sure you're who I think you are!

No, you're in the clear.

and Misha played my mlada fronta birthday request for atalanta :), which got the floor as full as possible given how sparse the night was....

which song was it? I'll have to add that to my list of songs to find. She played my request shortly after I walked through the door, which led off a nice four song dance break. A great way to start the night!

I eagerly await one of your setlist CD's, time permitting. ;)

xb-33 (as shivar mentioned already) -- [livejournal.com profile] arcanus introduced me to it. I'm sure he'll be pleased to see it gaining some traction around here :). It's one of those songs that gets a lot more floortime in clubs outside of the Boston area.

>>Shiver was kinda amazing.

*blush* Thank you so much.

I have to admit that overall it was a rather disappointing night, and I was so relieved that the last 45 minutes happened.

The Mlada Fronta ("xb_33") song was right after Haujobb - "subsonic", and was the second-to-last song of the night. It's an instrumental track, slowish, with some tribalesque drumming and a very droning quality. I love that I've been playing this track off & on for 4 years, and now Boston is giving it a full floor wherever it's played. Couldn't happen to a better song :D

p.s. I hope the snobbery wasn't coming from me or anything! I'd be inclined to think it wasn't, just because I was in a little glass box all night, but I'm the paranoid type :)

You'd be inclined rightly, you're good people!

I think the heavier, darker, noisy dance stuff is finally starting to sink in around here. It's so nice to hear some variety after five years of the same ebm tunes.

Anyhow, I don't think the low numbers had anything to do with you. And I think you already know how I feel about Manray....

[identity profile] shnells.livejournal.com 2004-07-29 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
i am just WAITING for the heavier oompa oompa stuff to come back in. it's like aerobics for people in boots. i love it. it makes me all sorta angry happy and stuff. that's waht they used to play anyways back when manray was cool and stuff.

[identity profile] post-future.livejournal.com 2004-07-29 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, I didn't take the low numbers personally. I assumed it would be a light night affected by people avoiding the (mostly non-existent) DNC problem.

I was just happy that people seemed to enjoy themselves by the end :)

the stuff you were playing was ace. i had a very good time to it.

Excellent. Thanks very much!
