1) How did you come about living here?

Once upon a time Silas had his Dream Job for Right Now: working in a hobby store in State College, Pa. He loved his job, but hated the atmosphere of "Happy Valley." He needed a richer, more metropolitan environment to thrive in. Khaki shorts and baseball caps were not for him. He considered moving to L.A., to Seattle, to New Orleans, even to New York. One day while he was unpacking the latest Games Workshop order, he got a phone call from his roommate, Ta Chuang. "Hi!" he said in his usual cheerful voice. "How would you like to move to Boston." "Boston? I hadn't really thought about it." "Well, think about it now, because I've got a job up there and I need a roommate!" Silas returned home and talked to his roommate about it, and decided "Why not?" So, with $1000 saved and no job prospects, I packed all my belongings, turned my back on Happy Valley, and moved to Beantown.

2) What primary characteristics would you say define you as a person?

Creativity (through dancing, writing, painting, gaming), Perfectionism (trying to be the best that I can, even if I have to beat myself up to do it), Honesty (I share a lot with my friends, sometimes too much I think, but they're still here!), and Compassion (I care a lot for people, and have a hopeful outlook on the world underneath my thin cynical shell).

3) What is it that you're looking for?

The real me. And I think I've found him. I've known him for some time, but just didn't realize it. I'd also like to share him with someone.

4) What did you always want to be when you "grew up" when you were a kid?

I was dead set on being a herpetologist. My specialty was going to be snakes. I was going to travel the world and study black mambas, fer-de-lances, boas, and cobras! Definitely cobras.
I kept several snakes where I was younger, mostly garter and king snakes. I had a water snake as well. My crowning achievement was with turtles, however. I built an outdoor pen about twenty foot square, with hay and a sunken in pond and rocks and a wooden shelter. I kept 3-4 box turtles, a wood turtle, a painted turtle and a baby snapping turtle. My grandfather collected them all for me (he was a forester in NJ). I kept them all spring and summer, then let them back into the wild as fall was arriving. The box turtles mated and laid eggs. One day I found about 16 baby turtles crawling through my yard!

5) What is the most important thing in your life right now?

Realizing how awesome I am. You can better be there for others once you have got a handle on yourself. I can see the handle now. And I'm putting my oversized mitts right on it!
