Friday night was spent in low candlelight, celebrating the birthday of a dear friend. After leaving, I was in the mood to dance, so my journey took me to the Devil Doll night at ManRay. I can't quite recall if I actually danced that much, but I do remember having a good evening.

Saturday's start was unexpected, then turned rather dull and unsatisfactory due to a lackluster gaming event.
The evening ended on a cautiously upbeat note due to fine Indian food and tough conversation. I enjoy our dinner conversations because she has a way of cutting through my thoughts and exposing the heart of the issue. The hard side is that I often come out looking like an ass. The knowledge and the insight is worth the pain. In the end, her opinion is just another opinion. It has as much weight as I give it.

Rather than dwell on the waste of Sunday, I will highlight the surprisingly entertaining Burlesque show I attended Sunday night. Overall I think it could use a bit of polish, but the high points of the evening were Little Red Coquette and La Belle Margeaux. They were spot on with the music, confident in their moves, moved with excellent pacing, and, well, they're gorgeous!

Wow, I'd love to go to a Burlesque show but there don't seem to be very many in the U.K. :(

I believe this was one of the first in Boston for a while. I'll be heading back to see some more, if my schedule permits!

There is a community for the Burlesque revival that posts dates and locations of upcoming shows, I think it's called [livejournal.com profile] burlesque_today.

Wow, thanks so much for the compliments! And thank you for coming, I definately felt more myself and less nervous having friends there. :) It helped make my night.

Let me know when you want to go again, I want to check out the other shows/other acts. I have a feeling that as they get warmed up and used to performing, the less-polished bits will shine more. Its kind of neat seeing a new performance troupe on its opening night -- to watch something happen from the beginning.
