I decided to play my Tyranid army in the local 40k league. It's the army I was going to sell, and I can still do so if I'm still unemployed when the league ends. There's been a marked difference between this league and the last one I was in. I'm enjoying myself more. Of the 4 games I've played so far, I lost 3 and won 1.
The win was against a Nurgle Death Company, where we managed to swarm over them and kill all but two squads, holding the table quarters needed to win.
The first lost was against Sisters of Battle, where we each killed 75% of the other person's army. I lost by only 50 pts.
The second lost was against Blood Angels. Technically I won on points, but lost points based on special scenario rules, which my opponent gained. A dramatic swing!
The third was a city fight against Dark Angels in a city. The gravity fluxtuations hurt and helped me, and I lost by around 200 points. Three Dark Angel squads were reduced to 1 model each. Had I killed those three models, I would have won the game.
The Fantasy tournament was much less fun. I lost two games and had one draw. I think the fact that I was hung over, and stuck in a building with no air condition and three hours sleep had something to do with my lack of fun as well.
The main thing to remember is that I'm having fun with the games. Even though I’m losing, I could have win if a few things had gone differently. And I don't think I'm any worse a player based on my record. That's what counts.
That and the face that people are talking about how well my army is painted!
