1. name a book you read in your childhood that has stayed with you ever since (not necessarily the literal physical book, of course)
James and the Giant Peach. A lonely child growing up wishing for a better life, then finding himself on wild adventures with bizarre and creepy new friends... hmm, what does that remind me of...
2. canoe or kayak?
Canoe. I've never tried kayaking, so I'll stick with what I know.
3. when is the ocean the most beautiful?
Pre-dawn, just before the sun rises. It's the only time I've seen the water and clouds turn gold and silver. It was breathtaking. A close second has to be a night, with the moon shining down on it. It creates a luminescence in the water that look like a city, shining up from below.
4. when did you know that the Goth scene was the place for you?
During a trip to Georgetown, at a club called Ground Zero. They were showing the video for Skinny Puppy's Worlock, and the dance floor there was packed. I'd been exposed to some of the music at school, but this was my first big, definitive club night.
5. If you were a horse, what kind would you be?
(after some research) A tiger horse. They are affectionate, gentle, sensible with excellent learning capacity, and a great deal of heart.
