I predict that tomorrow will be a good day. How do I know this? I intend to get a lot of cleaning squared away, and to return to the gym after two weeks off. Cleaning always puts me in a good mood, and a good workout always makes me feel good.

I also hope to finish off some more painting. As my first unit of high elves nears completion, I am getting happier with their overall look. I wasn't thrilled at first, but after a few more layers of paint and details attended, the finished result looks rather nice. At least a 7, if not an 8 (inside joke). There's a nice metaphor in there about listening to yourself. I wasn't satisfied with their paint jobs. So I worked on them until I was satisfied.

So, what's been going on.

Friday night was spent in the chaotic company of a lot of friends for a sushi making party. I brought salmon and shrimp, and arrived fairly early hoping to get started before the crowds arrived. It seems everyone shared my idea, for the kitchen was full when I got there. I hovered on the edge, snaking on edamame and miso soup, and scoring prime seats for the movies that were shown later. Eventually, I found some room and prepared the shrimp. My dreams of nigiri were dashed, as we were in between rice orders and my cutting skills were crap. Fortunately, shrimp sashimi is as good as nigiri, and not as filling! The salmon came home with me, and made a very tasty lunch the next day.

Saturday night was a night filled with quality films. Or not. A slightly different group gathered for Return of the Living Dead 2 (way inferior to the first one) Runaway, Battle Beyond the Stars, and the Mummy. There was a nice round of talking back during Runaway, but it tapered off during Battle as booze and sleep took their toll on the crowds. BBTS was about how I remembered it: bad special effects and acting, but there was something very interesting about the collection of mercenaries and their different reasons for banding together. There was a very high body count too, which was part of what was compelling. Only Heatray, SilentQ and I stuck around for the Mummy. It was by far the best movie of the night, and I'd say it's one of the best Bad Movies out there. It's got camp, it's got pulp, and it takes itself just seriously enough. SilentQ and I left around five am, earning our Hardcore badges for the night.

DND was tense today (more character death, two of us this time). You walk a fine line between role-playing tension and actually being tense. As long as everyone has a good time, it is worth it. I wish I could have articulated myself a little better, but I actually didn't want to make too much of deal out of it. I was still in a slight funk from Yet Another Character Death, and it think things were hitting a little too close to home. It's interesting now because I'm now playing my follower (a paladin) until my main character is resurrected. While the whole party liked my main character, there are a lot more clashes going on with the henchman. The trick is to keep the emotional responses on the character level, not on the player level.

The rest of my thoughts get their own entry, or no one will comment on them!
