Day three of the festival, Saturday afternoon, where we beat the extreme heat outside by staying indoors with air condition and rad movies.

Mon Ami. Two friends who work at a hardware store kidnap their bosses' daughter. Every possible thing that can go wrong with their plan does so, in a hilarios and sometimes shocking manner. There is a strong "Shaun of the Dead vibe going on here, especially the chemistry between the two lead actors. I was totally unprepared for how side-splittingly funny this movie was, I almost fell out of my chair at one point. 5/5 ransom notes

Nameless Gangster. This film followed the rise and fall of a frienship between a young Mobster and an older corrupt customs agent. The story spanned several years and jumped back and forth in time a bit too much for my taste. The acting was great and the cinematography was well shot. You get to see how important family is to the Koreans, and how much trobule it can get you into. The customs-official-turned-ganster starred in Oldboy, and his charisma served him well here. 4/5 bribes

V/H/S This was a collection of short, first-person-shot movies. The framing story was about a group of knuckleheads who recorded themselves vandalizing property, assaulting peope, and being generall goons. They take a job to steal a videotape from an old house. The find the owner dead in a chair, and a wall full of TV's. Things start to get wierd as each tape is viewed. The stories were pretty inventive, each one taking a nice twist on the "documentary" style. If this isn't your cup of tea, you will tire of it quickly. The extreme shaky cam in the beginning was very off putting, but the stories improved over time. Judging from the roar of the crowd after the movie, the audience was impressed. In the end, I was too. 4/5 cassettes

Zombie 108. Every year there is one film that ends up being a big mistake. Last year it was the abominable "Morituris" This year it was Zombie108. It had your "typical" viral/zombie outbreak, a band of police trying to shepherd survivors from the contaminated zone, a clash/team up with a drug kingpin and his sexy coterie, and a side plot about a serial rapist/torturer who captures a model and her daughter. Eventually the objectification and mistreatment of the women really turned me off. There were far too many plot ideas for the movie. There were occasional scenes that brough the movie up, but they were quickly negated. A really bad film, but I've seen worse. 1/5 zombies

We passed on any late night shennigans. Our day would start early on Sunday, and it was going to be another packed one.
