My parents made the annual trip up to Boston. The weather was great for the duration of their visit: no micro bursts, no scorchingly hot days and nights. We made our annual trips to Rockport for lobster (2 1/2 pounders this year!) and held a poker night on Friday. I did get cleaned out by night's end, but I did get my second royal flush. Dad took home the pot, which was only fitting. Saturday we lounged around the house and introduced my mom to Community, before heading out for a Duck Tour. It's nice to look around and pay attention to the city when you don't have to worry about traffic. The night ended in the North End. Saturday in the North End means lots of lines and waiting. I found a restaurant that had no line, but my father balked at the menu. He's not an adventurous eater by any stretch. I could feel my hunger and irritation rising, so I quickly asked the host if they could do a shrimp scampi. It wasn't on the menu, but Of Course an Italian restaurant can sautee shrimp in butter, wine, and garlic and spoon that over pasta. The Hunger Crisis was averted, and we all had a delicious dinner. I'll pass on their bruschetta trio next time in favor of pan seared scallops. I capped off the night with a great time at Sin-O-Matic, and saw them off the next day.

The Internet was on fire this week covering the NCAA's punishment of Penn State over the Sandusky scandal, and the shooting at a Colorado theater during the premiere of the Dark Knight Rises. My only commentary on either of these tragedies is that the NCAA went too far in punishing future students by stripping scholarships to the program. I'm a Penn State alumni, and I've see the Football Culture up close. Many people believed a football's teams legacy was more important than anything else. It's not.

I've just enough time to get home and do some laundry before embarking on Fantasia 2012. A record batch of movies this year, and a bit more time of stretching my legs and losing my self in Montreal. It will almost be like San Francisco last year. Expect many tales of adventure in about a week's time!
