An Update
I ended up having a good time at Laced. There was a bit of an awkward moment, but it was quickly navigated and filed away for later. At the end of the night, I heard a blood curdling shriek coming from across the street, and saw a man cornering a woman in a store front alcove. The urge to run across the street flashed through my mind. Instead, I loudly shouted out. "Hey over there, I'm calling the police." I stood right in front of him and narrated what was going on in a loud voice as I wanted for the cops to come on. The argument stopped, and the couple walked on down the street, acting normally again. I can't say as their argument would have continued after I left, but I hope I made a small impact.
Saturday our club ran our first Warhammer tournament in years. Twenty five players showed up, from as far as NYC and Maine. By comparison, the two day GT at TempleCon drew 20 players. I had a narrow win my first game, a crushing loss my second, and a crushing win to end the day. I took sixth overall, and had the second best painted army in the room. The games were a lot of fun, even with a trend of sub-standing rolling. I paid attention, all my big dice rolls were under 50%. My mood never crashed, and I never threw a dice in anger. I got to hang out post tournament with several of my friends from NYC, playing board games and drinking Kraken. It was a grand night.
That awkwardness I mentioned earlier ended up having some major, positive ramifications. I'm going to sit on the details for a bit, while I sort it all out and test run it. Tonight is dinner with a friend and Down With Tempo. Winter has come and is almost gone.
