Rounding third, coming into home
Oct. 21st, 2011 02:58 pmI forgot to mention the bachelor party I was a part of last week. Still drunk on meat from our game before, I struggled to stay awak through an underwhelming dinner at Rialto. The wine was fine, I think I just ordered the wrong dish for dinner. We followed that with drinks at Noir, and fireworks on the Charles. We provided the fireworks. I was impressed at how quickly the police showed up, and how they drove their cars up to the edge of the river. The Best Man ordered us to flee into the night, he had a lawyer on retainer for this sort of event. We followed orders, and raced back to Kevin's house for drinks and games until the wee hours. The Best Man rejoined us, none the worse for wear with his brush with the law.
Xmortis was pleasantly off the hook, my billiards game was on fire as I went 3 out of 5 against my roommate. Chris graced us with two tracks from the new VNV album (one of them my request) and a general good time was had by all. Four of us car pooled to a wedding in Cooperstown, NY. The country was incredibly beautiful, ablaze with the turning leaves and the tumultuous waves on the lake. We were at the reception hall for nine hours, which even for our battle hardened revelers was a marathon. The bride was utterly radient, and the groom too in his own quiet way. There were many many more drinks and dancing and food, and a late night temporary tattoo party. I ended the night unblemished.
The week has flown by. Therapy progressed this week, we didn't touch on the medication issue at all, and started digging into the college years and what those were like. This was sparked by the death of an old gaming friend from college. I finally managed to get to the Medford spin jam, and saw some faces from Wildfire (Katie and John) and met another Chris. Our Fantasia movie was Love Exposure, which we only watched half of because it's a four hour movie. It's funny and charming and occasionally gut wrenchingly brutal. I think it's brilliant, but that sentiment is not universally shared. It's definitely worth checking out. After that I hit up the Eastern Standard for a friend's birthday. She's not someone I know really well, and at times I didn't even think she liked me. Recent therapy session have led me to challenge old preconceptions, so I accepted her invite to come out. My drinks were delicious, but there were two strikes against them: One was being charged for a drink I didn't order (which got resolved), and the other was not returning my card, which I only discovered after visiting Francesca at Wonder Bar. Note to self: avoild Wonder Bar on the weekend, being made to wait in line downstairs to visit a friend is crap. I did flex my clout when Francesca texted me to tell the bouncers to let me upstairs, and they did. I'm connected!) To make a long story short (too late) I made it to the Eastern Standard in time to recover my card and crashed at hom.
Tonight there is another club night, but I may give my credit card a rest and do some more hobby work. I have to buy a lot of sushi for my friends (and me) tomorrow, and I get to help destroy a basement. A nice full day! Oh, and then there's the whole birthday thing on Sunday. Complete with DND, more sushi, and... a date!
