Good grief. This is the kind of weekend that convinces me that I'm getting old. I spent much of the prior week painting models for a tournament, then took Friday night off for fun at Xmortis. Fun was certainly had. Highlights of the night include several vicious games of pool with my roommate, both of us making shots like we'd sold our souls. There was dancing to follow to many classic songs, there was black lipstick prints on pale flesh. New friends were made, and surprise comments came out of the blue. All of those ingredients swirled together to create a memorable concoction that I drank from deeply. Another successful night.

The time spent painting paid off, as I won best painted army at the event. My win record was 0-2-1, but that was unimportant. Two members of my DND group swung by the store and got to see my army in action. In this case, action means "being removed from the table with great alacrity." I used my pirze money to pick up the last few models I needed for my Big Event in two weeks, then closed the night out at one of my gaming buddie's birthday party. There was rum, MMA fighting, and a long game of Battlestar Galactica. I'm pleased to say that I was not a cylon.

Sunday our DND group wrestled with lizardmen and nearly drowning at sea, while I wrestled with a meat coma brought on by Redbones. I was exhausted by the end of it all, but stayed away to catch up on Torchwood and a Doctor Who episode. I'll refrain from talking about Torchwood yet, that deserves its own post. A night of extreme sleepness followed. There were nightmares (about Jason-style serial killers) and good, fun, dreams, and very little actual constructive sleep.

September is already jammed with possibilities, activities, and adventures. I'm eagerly looking forward to each one, and counting myself very, very, blessed.
