Irene came to visit
Aug. 29th, 2011 05:01 pmFriday night started with a rare misfire: no one showed up for the poker game. Sara and I chilled out for the most part, then I changed and went to Wonder Bar to visit Lisa and Francesca. I was treated very well by my girls, including a few shots shared with Francesca. Wonder Bar is absolutely not the kind of music or crowd I normally hang out with, but a little change up is nice.
Saturday I hosted some Warhammer at my house, but again we were short a person so I could only fit in one game before folks had to leave. That night's adventures brought me to Cris' birthday party / house warming. It looks like he's settled in nicely, there's always some cool about seeing familiar things (art work, distinctive furniture) in a new setting. I got to meet Tricia's sister (I think for the first time), and catch up with people. There's talk about possible fire spinning adventures in the enclose back yard in the future, and I shared my love of Fantasia with anyone who'd listen.
Irene was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time she arrived Sunday morning. The rain actually stopped midday but the wind persisted into the night. We were fortunate: no power loss, no flooding, and no damages. I felt a little ripped off, or a victim of the hype machine. It's pretty callous to WANT to have a major hurricane slam into the neighbor hood. As it was, there was heavy wind and stinging rain, and I got to be in awe of the power of Nature, so that was good.
Nicole from Providence has not been seen for the past month or so. There may be other games afoot, I'm investigating some clues this week. There is a therapy related post a brewing. Some new "old" issues bear looking at.
