On Pains and Gains
Feb. 28th, 2011 11:39 amI was looking at a weekend largely devoid of doing anything. Let's see how that panned out?
Friday night my friend Paul came over to administer my weekly Warhammer beat down. A couple of tall vodka and sodas helped ease the pain of my defeat. Saturday was a Doctor Who marathon, finishing off the fourth season with a break in the middle to beat myself to death at the gym. Two days later my thighs are sill aching. I did find time to shop and make cookie dough.
Sunday I slept late, and got stuck in traffic on my way to Stephanie's for a massage. She encouraged me to bring my own music, so I got to listen to some ambient Hybrid while she worked out the kinks. I learned that I need to stretch more after my workouts and have more water, to ease the constant stiffness. She did a very good job, even going as far to make my foot feel a lot better. I think a regular massage will become part of my Crossfit training! The rest of the day I polished off the first half of season 1 of Dr. Who, and had a lot of cookies. Comfort food trumps tight abs.
Today's about as dreary a day as you could ask for. I don't mind so much, despite some horrible dreams and the attending drowsiness that comes with a night of bad sleep. The weekend was very quiet, filled with awesome TV, and let me recharge my batteries and center myself. Special mention goes to a nice Indian lunch with Lauren, it's good to have more lunch partners in the area, with spring creeping up on us.
