Manhatten!

The megabus dropped me off in Manhattan at 10:30. The night was misty, but not actually raining. I haven't been to the city in a while, and this was the first time I really felt the majesty of New York City. The tall elegant buildings, the frantic pace of life at street level, the neon jungle and half a dozen other cliches. I took a cab to E 82nd street and 2nd ave, and popped into Rock and Roll Thai for some satay and yard long insanely alcoholic punch. My friend Arash met me there and we shot the shit while the place filled up with attractive patrons. After drinks we headed back to his place for more cider and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The show is a riot, I had no idea.

Saturday we got up and made our way out to a team tournament in East Rutherford, just outside the city. (Yes, I went down for Warhammer). I ended up 1-1-1 for the day, with three well played and exciting games. I did decide that the next time I head down to the city for a weekend, it will be dedicated to wild Fear and Loathing style adventures with my friend Nidal, where we wander the streets of the city until dawn.

I arrived home at midnight, to the sounds of merriment coming from inside my apartment. The last time I came home to an unexpected party at my house was in high school. They had locked the door, and people were making out on my bed. People, not me. This time around, the house was filled with friendly faces, so I dropped my bags, mixed up a drink, and picked up a guitar controller. We drank and played and sang and laughed until 4:30 or so.

Sunday woke me up slow, not hung over, but generally slothful. I unpacked and straightened up at the house, then met up with Jennifer for a movie and drinks. Paranormal Activity was as good as people said, the lack of soundtrack helps make the creepy bits even more so. We ended up at in the Burren, listening to a guitar/cello instrumental duo. God, the sound of a cello is like butter on your popcorn, whiskey in your hot chocoate, sex for your ears. Well, my ears anyway. It made for a delightful end to an awesome weekend.
