This weekend both exceeded and failed to live up to expectations. "In what way, Silas?" "I'm glad you asked, LJ!"
The part on Friday was rather nice. I felt more socially plugged in than I had in a while. We are at a place that was large enough for intimate conversations w/out being drowned out my the more raucous elements. I partook in both, along with tasty pomegranate martinis. Even as the night wound on into racier territory, it did so with no lingering feelings of jealousy. Participation is a wonderful thing.
I ask you: what good is it to avoid having a hangover in preparation for a tournament, and then not get to play? We ended up near capacity with 25 players, so as one of the organizers, I sat this one out. I could really use the practice before the NJ tournament next weekend, but there you go. All the participants had a good time, and I received many compliments on a well run event. Our future events promise to be well attended.
Underworld was under attended. It's a shame, because I enjoy the space so. I did see a few familiar and fetching faces, but the night didn't reach the crescendo of awesomeness past night had. My roommate and I ducked out a little early, and rocked out a bit at home before bed.
A glorious spring day was spent cleaning, running a few errands, and driving out to Watertown for more Pirates in Spaaaaaace (our DND game). After one failed attempt to infiltrate a lunar (or "moonal") base was thwarted by flashy spells and dinosaurs (yes, huge lizards. It's like Jon Carter, but on the moon). we adopted a sneaker strategy to gain entrance to a second base. Teleporting on the moon isn't like doing so on earth, and I suffered a number of minor mishaps before getting it right. What can I say, if you want to travel instantaneously, you takes your chances! The night ended with a double bill of Vertigo and High Anxiety.
Now it is Monday. Dark skies over Boston, no baseball game to clog up parking for the night. Another week begins...
