life after cancellation
Dec. 19th, 2007 03:02 pmSome of you may know that Buffy the Vampire Slayer has an "official" eight season going on in comics. Dark Horse is publishing the title, and the first arc was written by Joss himself. He is overseeing the entire series, and has announced that this is what Season Eight would have been about. The series is about nine issues in, and I've enjoyed it a lot. The first arc focused on Buffy, Xander, Willow, and Dawn, with some guest shots from Giles and Andrew. The second arc focused on Faith and Giles, and it's hella sweet.
What you may not know is that Angel is also getting the same treatment. "Angel: After the Fall" is a 12 issue limited series that also have the official Joss Whedon treatment. He's co writing it with Brian Lynch, and it's one hell of a wild ride. I won't get into any details right now, but the dialogue is very Angel, and it continues in the same dark vein as the TV show. Word has it issue 2 is released today, so I'll be scouting it out on the way home.
