The weekend started out in grand style, but many claim that I didn't start it out at all.  Rather, my evil twin showed up at the Kinsale in downtown Boston early (the first one there!) to help Heatray celebrate his birthday.  The truffle fries were touted as the "best in the world".  They were extremely tasty, but on the rare occasion that I have fries I like them thicker (ala steak fries).  The shepherd's pie was delicious, and they had Original Sin on tap.  Score!  Much good conversation was had, and I have a table full of lovely ladies joining me for food and good conversation.

The party moved to the Fenway for a viewing of D War.  The groans and moans of despair almost drowned out the soundtrack, and despite even the best CGI (which this wasn't) two giant snakes fighting it out doesn't look that dramatic.  If anything, it's vaguely erotic and uncomfortable.  The short action scene where the evil dragon army shows up and trashes LA was a lot of fun.  The night ended at Noir, where i mostly basked in the glow of people enjoying themselves.

Saturday saw some Warhammer (a win and a draw, both with the list that went so horribly wrong the week before).  The old me was back, as I got over to Heatray's pretty late and had to rush out the door.  The repair work I did on my skirt both helped seal the backing to the vinyl, and also kept the vinyl from folding in on itself!  I had more compliments on it, including someone who wanted to know where I bought it.  I told him Madame Xarcana's *with a wink and a nod.

The Variant Ball was a grand time.  Some of the performances were just OK, others were definitely worth the price of admission!  Each night has a different flavor of awesomness to it.  This evening was categorized by the diverse crowd of people I knew there.  Fire spinners, old gaming friends, new dancer friends, birthday boys and ex-girl friends and people I only see once a month, but who are dear to me regardless.  Everyone had the moment to shine, drinks to share, and steps to perform.  We wound the night down at a local after party, where once again my fail safe hiccup cure surprised a skeptical room.

Sunday.  Glorious downtime: reading out in the beautiful weather on my back porch, finishing off the last paint jobs I needed for my upcoming tournament, shopping and cleaning, and sharing another wretched movie with Theamazingjb: The Thirst.  As vampire movies go it's incredibly gory, with wretched production values.  It does however have three former Joss Whedon characters in it (Andrew, Glory and Jayne).  Watching Adam Baldwin playing "Jayne if he were a vampire" was worth it.  The commentary track should be a hoot.

Tonight.  Finally, the return to poi, then some Ceremony.
