FanTasia - On the 3rd day he rested.
Jul. 11th, 2007 02:28 pmSunday morning we woke up and checked out. We'd managed to have sunshine the entire weekend, which was a nice change from past visits. We broke our fast at the cleverly named Qui d'un Oeuf. It was jam packed and pretty tasty, though our breakfast buddies (Noize_gurl and meowsalot) said it's gone downhill. silentq took a stroll on her own before heading to her movie, while meowsalot dropped me off near Parc du Mont Royal. I followed the sound of tam tam drummers until I reached a low hill with bodies splayed out all over it soaking in the sun. I caught a distinctive scent of smoke coming from more than a few clusters of people. I found somewhere fairly out of the way, dug out my poi, and spun along with the drummers for about half an hour.
From the park I walked down to Cruella, where I bought some new shorts, and a new skirt. It was a total out of budget splurge, but my old Cruella skirt has gotten a little small. Its the same style as my old panel skirt, but in vinyl (yum). It fits perfectly, and won't shrink. I still club enough that I'll get some mileage out of it. I decided against the Metro, and took a forty five minute walk down to the theater to rendezvous with silentq. I'm glad I did both for the exercise, and for the view of the city: it's small quirky shops, plethora of restaurants, and familiar stores made new with their French titles. Montreal is a fun and beautiful city, for reasons beyond the architecture and landscape. Chaaaaaud! (that's hot for those of you who don't speak French. At least, that's what the cap of my chai said).
We left Montreal and all it offered behind us for the long ride home. Getting back into the country took 45 minutes, longer than expected, but eventually the night crept up on us. We avoided any discussion of the scarier films on the way home, immersed as we were in the dark wilds of New Hampshire. Our conversation became more reflective and engaging, a good meaty stew for the mind. I dropped her off shortly after midnight, and by 12:30 I was home.
The weekend trip was a much needed balm for my soul. There was no room for any other old thoughts, just an overwhelming tide of new places, faces, visions, and tastes. I definitely feel excited about moving forward, and I'm even looking forward to my trip to Orlando. I have fun nights ahead with new clothing, and many new movies to track down and share.
It's good to be back.
