Training is going very well. There's a lot of interesting things to cover, and I'll actually be able to directly apply this information when I get back to Boston (which means I may actually remember it).
Tampa isn't blazingly hot, but it may as well be compared to Boston. Fear not, I'll be back soon and freezing like the rest of you. Tamps is also very flat and sprawling. There are a handful of tall glass buildings, but nothing more than say 12 stories. You get to see a lot more sky here, arching above you. It gives the feel of being out in the desert, even though you're
surrounded by asphalt and palm trees.
Since our training covers breakfast and lunch, I had no qualms about going out and getting sushi for diner. I went to Matoi, the "best sushi in Tampa". I don't know if they were the best, but they were pretty impressive. The soup was more chicken based with crunchy bits in it, and mushrooms (ok tasting but unusual). The edamame was good, and the actual sushi itself very good. Long strips of fish overflowing the rice (always a good sign) on the nigiri, and the maki were large and chock full o'fish. Best of all was the amount of white tuna you got as part of the regular sushi platter. The white tuna at New Ginza makes me black out and reach for a cigarette, here it must be a little more common. That doesn't make it any less tasty though! The waitress wondered if I was alright when she came to clear my plate.
I assured her, I was.

Tonight I'll try the Italian grill, but I think I'll sneak back for a little more Matoi before I go. Always leave a new place with a good taste in your mouth!
