back home safe from the rave. more to come later.
Tegin's cookout was a delicious, tasty time. I got there promptly and mixed up some sangria, and chatted with some of her grad school friends as they showed up. They all left surprisingly early. Grad students seem to have no stamina. One of my favorite points of the party had to be rocking out back to back with Photiq on Guitar Hero. Unlike some other games, I enjoy getting my ass handed to me at this one. Seeing old friends from Ct was also great. Then it was off to VI to say hello to some other friends, where the music was extra good, and the drinks a little stronger than I remembered.

I definitely could have used some more recovery time, but it was off to meet a friend for practice for the Marauder later in the month. Nothing went right, and I mean nothing, the first three turns. I managed to fight my way back into it and get some points, though. This was a clear cut example of bad luck, and I shrugged it off. Then for a quick stop at a brunch (where I missed a gaggle of people, but did spend some lovely time talking to a certain MomToBe). A quick nap and an hour of getting lost later, I made it to Tatiana's house, where she and Mike and I drove down to New Haven for a small rave.

Alchey is a good sized club space, but tiny compared to places like the (defunct) Asylum. It's much less a crack den, though. The event was Listen, and boy did we listen. And dance. Quite a damn bit. I think we missed the first two DJ's, or they were all just tag teaming (Knowledge, Michael Myers, and X-dream) They were all spinning good stuff, and for all of you who requested I get some dancing in for you, I accomplished that during their set. Tatiana was next, but her set didn't do it for me. Exhaustion was taking hold then, so I sat most of her set out wishing I could get some sleep. My second wind came back during Baby Anne's set. Drop dead cute and awesome breaks to boot. Heatray would have loved it. I know I did. Christopher Lawrence took the stage at 1:30 and closed out the night. He was the reason I went to the show, and he didn't disappoint. He was a total superstar, and even thought it might have been a really small venue, he tore the place down. I danced the last 45 minutes straight on through, even after a full night of debauchery on Saturday and a long day Sunday. I was still dancing with the lights came up. Christopher Lawrence had very little ego or pretention, just a tall blonde guy, normally dressed. He chatted with the other DJ's and worked the room into a frezy, smiling all the time. As rocky as some points in the night were, he completely validated the trip. Nice one, bruvvah.

We made it home in great time. The sky was greyish blue when I crossed the threshold of my home. Now for a nice mellow day of relaxation, before the work week begins.
