Yelling in my car again
Jan. 26th, 2005 01:36 pmOne of my friends said they stopped listening to NPR, because the news just made them sad and angry and helpless. There are times I can relate.
Last night I listened to segment about Iran's nuclear program, and America's resistance to it. The interviewee said that the US Administration was considering "limited air strikes" again Iranian targets. The idea was to show the Iranian government that they were unable to defend their people, and that the people would rise up against their government. The interviewee thought this idea was doomed to failure, and that once a foreign power attacked them, all internal differences would be put aside to face the foreign threat.
I have only this to say: Remember the attacks on Septermber 11th? Remember Pearl Harbor?
The United States banded together when attacked by an outside force. Do you really think the people in Iran won't do the same?
