Dec. 7th, 2001 02:04 pmThere has been a lot said in the news and media about the impossible images we set on ourselves. The drive to achieve "perfection." The media creates the image of the perfect man (square chin, washboard abs, 0% body fat, 9"cock) and the perfect woman (blond, hourglass/waif figure, large breasts). They build these caricatures and make millions of people miserable trying to become these constructs, these inhuman unattainable physiques. Unattainable w/out a personal nutritionists, or several hours a day of working in the gym. Things the everyday mortal can't afford.
Never mind the fact that the people who create these images are the furthermost thing from the perfection they create.
Lose weight! Regain your hair! Increase your breast/penis/biceps size!
Only by doing this will you be happy!
That's message, beamed at us every day on the TV, on the radio, in our magazines.
And we buy it. We all do, to a certain extent.
We all talk about how looks aren't everything, it's what inside that counts. And yet they are still a factor in our decisions. Yes, they are. Be honest with yourself. It's OK.
What's my point? The points are pretty obvious, and the answers are what you'd expect. Hell, they get sent to us through the same medium that sells us the problem. Find your own standard of beauty. Don't accept what the media tells you you should look like. Look at your body and make a decision. If you don't like it, try to make changes. If you're content with it, don't bow to pressure to change it. Eat rich foods. Put some fleshy clothes on that washboard. Find your happiness your own way. Nothing is sexier than happiness.
