jchrisobrienLast night's Buffy was amazing. A strong opening to the seasons, and a return to great characters. Joss Whedon wrote this episode, and it shows. Buffy was back to being a strong character, more focused than she was last season. Dawn was far less annoying, even endearing in some situations. Xander was looking suave in his suit and new car. The scenes with Giles and Willow in England were very well done. They've shelved the whole addiction metaphor, and they aren't punishing her. It's very encouraging
was the parade of villains. Warren, Glory, Adam, Mayor Wilkins, Drusilla, and the Master (all uncredited) ending with Buffy herself. SO DAMN COOL! Plus It's speech to Spike, saying to him (and the audience) that just because he has a soul, doesn't mean he'll go all Angel on us.
I'm amazingly psyched for the new season. I've also learned that watching Buffy is much more fun with groups. Thanks to all of you who came over! With the miracle of Tivo, I'm not longer limited to babysitting my TV, which means I can watch the show at other people's house sans remote.
