There has been a lot said in the news and media about the impossible images we set on ourselves. The drive to achieve "perfection." The media creates the image of the perfect man (square chin, washboard abs, 0% body fat, 9"cock) and the perfect woman (blond, hourglass/waif figure, large breasts). They build these caricatures and make millions of people miserable trying to become these constructs, these inhuman unattainable physiques. Unattainable w/out a personal nutritionists, or several hours a day of working in the gym. Things the everyday mortal can't afford.

Never mind the fact that the people who create these images are the furthermost thing from the perfection they create.

Lose weight! Regain your hair! Increase your breast/penis/biceps size!
Only by doing this will you be happy!

That's message, beamed at us every day on the TV, on the radio, in our magazines.
And we buy it. We all do, to a certain extent.

We all talk about how looks aren't everything, it's what inside that counts. And yet they are still a factor in our decisions. Yes, they are. Be honest with yourself. It's OK.

What's my point? The points are pretty obvious, and the answers are what you'd expect. Hell, they get sent to us through the same medium that sells us the problem. Find your own standard of beauty. Don't accept what the media tells you you should look like. Look at your body and make a decision. If you don't like it, try to make changes. If you're content with it, don't bow to pressure to change it. Eat rich foods. Put some fleshy clothes on that washboard. Find your happiness your own way. Nothing is sexier than happiness.

muaahhh

I have this issue with beauty.
See, I like my women tall with some meat to them (mmmmm, soooooft) and preferably the ability to throw me over a shoulder and run off lightly. Makes me wanna drop to my knees and beg and plead to be someone's naughty girl... 'specially if they've got dark skin and Natural! hair.

I like my men short (still soft, I have this softness thing going down), preferably the size I can toss over my shoulder and run off lightly with ;-) I have to fight urges to assault strangers, it seems.

i agree about the issues. i had an argument with a friend recently saying we have the power to ignore the images. but it's not that easy. i honestly feel that i am being brainwahed by tv. of course i can choose not to watch it but since i do i think it really seeps into my head. the same friend of mine who said to "ignore tv and media images" also thinks that jennifer aniston and courtney cox are "average". people have thought i was crazy cause i did not think they were "too thin",...either way, some people would say that we were both screwed... up either way....we both watch too much tv.....

BUT WHAT IS YOUR STANDARD OF BEAUTY?
