Senses

I watched Perfume this week.  It was one of the high points of my week.  Mishak wrote a very stunning review of it somewhere back in his journal, and I lack the brainpower to do it sufficient justice.  It is a fabulous movie, and i'll likely be more coherent about it if you want to discuss it in person *hint*

Inspired by the movie, let me recap my week with a tour of the senses.

Monday - touch: The feel of a body pressed to yours in friendly greeting, clinging to you for warmth.
Tuesday - smell: Pungent human aromas from hours spent in the gym, your own faint odor vanishing in the cold air as you step outside.
Wednesday - hearing: the constant rattling of the storm outside, like footsteps walking down your hall, keeping you from sleeping
Thursday - taste: a cosmopolitan that was sickly sweet, almost too much so to drink
Friday - sight: bodies clad in leather and vinyl, twisting shapes in the darkness, a pool table and two cues.  This is yet to come.

Friday - aww yeah. I'm thinking Monday and Thursday can be recaptured; you may also be reminded of Tuesday.

The book is ever bit as good as the film. I think I mentioned to you how pleased I was when I finally saw the film version, after having read the book all the way back in college, how true and pure it was to the spirit of the original story.

Read the book. It's awesome!
