I got hit.  I will hit back.

Props to Other_hbk for using his mantra, I felt it was appropriate.

While the weekend was a good time, I fell into a Black Hole the other day.  Very miserable, then very angry.  Lifting at the gym didn't help, but it did fuel my performance.  It wasn't until well after dinner, into the apple pie and cosmo phase of the evening, that things seemed to lighten a bit.

The next day, like Kaizer Soze, it was gone.  I don't know what to fully attribute it to, but I can point at some factors:  a full night's sleep, several successful support calls, and frequent repetitions of "get over it."

In a less serious vein, let's talk about BMI for a moment, which I refer to as Body Mass Idiocy.  Does anyone know of a more accurate means to factor this?  The simple formula tells me that I'm overweight (at 27.4%), but it also (wisely) says that people who work out have a higher than normal number w/out being unhealthy.  Do you just say, "hey I work out, punk" and multiply the result by .8 or something?

I hate that sniggity BMI thingy. I find it a crock, for over 80% of the population is overweight due to it. Those that are slightly overweight are shown as morbidly obeise. The only thing that seems to work like a charm is doing the "Pinch Test", where they use calipers to pinch certain areas to index the percentage of fat one has, within 10%. I have always found those more accurate than the BMI crappamajigger.

I understand sevearl gyms or health centers have this tool. It's someting I can look into when I next visit the gym, which is likely tonight.

While in the Navy, they were famous for using the BMI for yearly physicals. If one failed that, they measured you. This+That+Neck. Some of the guys were body builders, and they came out more overweight than the BMI. One guy I knew had to ask the command for permission to use the pinch test. Due to the results of the other two, he was put on a mandatory weight loss program until the results of the pinch. Personally, I like "love handles" on a guy, wierd thing I have I guess.
