Subconscious to the rescue

Obviously my brain is trying to tell me something.

Last night I dreamed that I was cast in the musical Godspell again.  I wasn't too thrilled with the idea intially, everything seemed very substandard and disorganized.  As the rehearsal continued, more things became clear to me.  The singing improved, the dancing was more exciting and interesting, and I realized that I wasn't in the chorus, I was a lead (Jesus, in fact).  My brain loses points here for subtlty.  I did nail the songs though.

Woke up, went back to bed, dreamed again.  I was at a club with an acquaintance of mine, but in the dream were were arm in arm, laughing at each other,  indulging in playful, sexual, banter.  We were both a little forward, but neither really minded.  There was just joy and heat and a casual yet magnetic attraction.

Sometimes there is cruelty in being kind.  Sometimes you just have to shut up and enjoy the ride!

Your mood and your robe. Are both a deep blue.
You think that Job's got nothing on you.
But don't forget that when. you. go. to.
heaven you'll be blessed!

Yes, it's all for the best.

They get the center of the meat, cushions on the seat
houses on the street where it's sunny..
summers by the sea, winters warm and free
all of this and we get the rest...
but who is the land for,
the sun and the sand for?
You guessed, it's all for the best...

hehehehe

Is there a Godspell reference in it?

(I haven't seen it)

Wait....you were once in Godspell?

It was my first musical ever. I sang part of "Light of the World." Our director set the play in an inner city playground. My character was an old street musician. I played the saxophone on stage before the show, and during the end of "Light of the World."

It rocked so hard.

I was always a bigger fan of Jesus Christ Superstar.

"Oh, say are you the Christ, yes, the Real Jesus Christ?
Proof to me that you're divine,
Turn my water into wine!"

Great stuff!

I would have died. DIED. to be in that show. The theater group put it on one year before I did Godspell.

I still think I know all the words to it.

"All this time, I tried for three years. Seems like thirty, seems like thirty...."

It's a very powerful show!
I've seen one live production a local group put on. Excellent.
The movie is also really amazing.
I used to have the original cast recording, but I think my copy must have gotten lost someplace.
I should really rememeber to lend you my CD copy of 'War Of The Worlds' the rock musical. Late 70's, lots of wah-wah guitar, and Sir Richard Burton doing the narration. It's not JCSS, but it's still very powerful, and not very well known in this country. Much bigger in the UK.

funny little tidbit:

you ever see the movie for Godspell?
Jesus was played by Victor Garber, "Sydney"'s dad on ALIAS.
It was his first movie role.

Hee, that's cool.
I wonder if Mr. Garber wants people to remember this or not?

I think it's been ages, I only very fuzzy ideas of what the movie is like.
Now the movie for JCS I remember very well!
