Night of the Living Rain

Met up with an old friend I haven't seen in a while.  We grabbed dinner, where I overstuffed myself due to my eating habits being thrown off all day.  He did some shopping, I did some window shopping.  I now have a few more books to throw down on my Christmas list (my mother will be soooo happy).  To Reign in Hell is back in print, so that goes on the list.  The first of the George R.R. Martin books will go there too (thanks Spitcurl) as will Kushiel's Dart (thanks SilentQ).

I quickly read through The Walking Dead last night, which follows the life of a man after he wakes from a coma and finds out zombies have brought civilization to an end.  It focuses on how people react to the end of life as they know it, and how they react to each other.  Right now it's pretty similar to most zombie stories out there, but it adds a few new twists.  I'll follow it a bit more, and see where they go with it.

Thank you subconscious for the zombie dreams last night.  Thank you to the storm last night too, that woke me up with arhythmicall drops on my window that sounded like tapping, scrabbling fingers.

Despite the bad sleep, I've been on top of my mood for the day.  Nice one.

Hooray for new books. And *now* you'll understand the halloween costume ;)

The Walking Dead plot sounds a bit Like the plotline of 28 Days Later...

If only I understood it sooner! (I have no idea what that means...)

the plot of TWD deviates a good bit from 28 days later in the details, but in overall focus they are similar: more about the people, less about the zombies. Time will tell if they try to figure out how the zombies came to be, or if they continue to focus on how humanity and civilization will survive.

Both the George R.R. Martin series and the Kushiel's series are my favorite recent fantasy series...having read them as an adult, and after a lot of other fantasy had lost its appeal to me.

I'm re-reading the whole George R.R. Martin series right now, so we can even chat about it.

Sweeeeet

The last time my mother bought me a book it was the eigth part of the Wheel of Time series. I hadn't read the first seven books so it made NO sense, and I put it down after only a few chapters.

A lot of fantasy doesn't do it for me anymore either. It's good to know that some books out there can still grab me. I ran out of steam on the Anita Blake books after Obsidian Butterfly. That deserves it's own post at some point :)
