Mildly political

John Kerry might have exaggerated his war record when he fought for our country in Vietnam.

George Bush absolutely exaggerated the threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, and stayed at home during the Vietnam war.

Kerry should stop trying to defend his record in Vietnam, and focus on Bush's record in Iraq.

The problem is that Kerry's already blown his big chance to take on Bush with the war record. He was asked, flat-out, if he would still have voted yes for the attack if he'd know then what he knows now.

Sadly, he said yes.

He's an idiot, but I prefer his idiocy to Bush's.

I think I'll just steer clear of political rants in my journal. Mass. should go to Kerry w/out any problems. Any other state is out of my hands. If the American people want to vote this lunatic back into office, we deserve whatever we get. I hope things get bad enough that people get off their buts and do something about it. Third party, multiple parties, dictatorship, revolution. Something.

The problem is that isn't what he voted for. He voted to authorize the president to go to war if/when he deemed that to be the appropriate course of action. Kerry goes on to say that he would have made the same descision but would have not gone forward until he had secured support of more allies, which presumably means he would have waited for further inspections to take place. His answer was sadly too nuanced to escape the clobbering of the mainstream media and Bush's team.
