Best Quote Heard at Manray.

The opening notes of Bela Lugosi's Dead start to play.
I'm walking to the bar with Richard and I hear a female voice say:

"Yeah, this sounds pretty Gothy"

In other news, I made it to the gym. Motivation 2, Laziness 0

When that song came on at ManRay a guy I knew in college said, "Hey, this is a You Shriek cover, right?"

Heh.

I was visiting my family in California, and playing Joy Division. A friend of my brother's walks in, hears "Dead Souls" and asks, "is this a crappy cover of that Nine Inch Nails song?"

I almost threw a book at him.

your brother's friend.

It's a sad state of affairs, and a pointed look at my/our own longevity in the scene.

I remember someone asking me if I was going to see not only the Boston but the Providence show of the Crüxshadows (maybe back in 97 or 98) and obviously I wasn't hardcore enough of a fan if I was only going to see them once this tour.

Then a Bauhaus song came on (this was at manray -- I think it was Telegram Sam), and she asked who this was because it was horrible. I wanted to tell her that it was one of the bands the Cruxshadows were ripping off...

Dirtyknees also overheard people wondering what group did Third Uncle when I played that Bauhaus song in my mini-set for the Ceremony anniversary night.

Kids these days...

Oh you should have told her.

But you know, the Cruxshadows are to them what Bauhaus and the other bands of their time are to us. They are their gateway.

It's still hella funny to hear them talk, though.

This was someone old enough to know better. Or at least not young enough to be that ignorant.

The internet gives me great access to other blunders like people attributing Joy Division lyrics to Nine Inch Nails, and Nine Inch Nails lyrics to Johnny Cash. The fun never ends!

HAHAHAHAHA!

Thank you for sharing that.
I feel old or something.
