Welcome to Sexy Time Kitchen
Dec. 10th, 2013 03:30 pmAfter a long day of rolling dice and removing models from the table (my own), I came home to shower and straighten up before attending a friend's house warming party. I picked up some house warming booze and several bottles of mixer. Ninety percent of the people at a party will bring their own booze, but mixers are always over looked. Usually the hosts will have some, but they go quickly in our crowd, and people are always delighted when I show up with more. There were lots of angles in the apartment, with the guests divided between the living room (with lots of comfy chairs and a TV) and the kitchen (full of booze but few places to sit). I spent some time chatting with friends in the kitchen about the qualities of an Awesome Movie and my recent foray into the Hellraiser series of films before making my way to the living room.
The TV was showing a collection of random video shorts and animation examples. Some of them were rendering tests, most were short features that ranged from the psychedelic to the unsettling to downright hilarious. The winner of the night was "Flamingo Pride" about a huge gay flamingo party where one flamingo just didn't fit in. The storytelling was good enough that we didn't need sound to enjoy it. As I traveled between living room and kitchen, the differences of the hosts became more pronounced. The living room was for conversation, watching videos, and drinks. The kitchen was for making out and other shenanigans. I don't remember who came up with the phrase, but the other room was dubbed "Sexy Time Kitchen." At that point six hands reached for six phones, and Facebook was soon flooded with messages about Sexy Time Kitchen. And now you know, the rest of the story.
