Happy Solstice! and the adventures of Clubbasaurus Rex
The last two weeks were filled with a rare level of work stress. My boss is dealing with an extreme family situation which has left him edgier than normal, and he's been lashing out at us. He did warn us in advance, but as you know that sort of things triggers a lot of dark thoughts. As of right now, the myriad issues I was dealing with (computer upgrades, remote control problems, AV and Kaseya not playing together) are ironed out, and I'm back to the point where I can be helping out others in addition to taking care of my own work.
Within the span of five days there were three club nights. Naturally, I managed to hit each one. I'm growing more and more comfortable at Xcess andTemple Allure. Even though last week I got to deal with the phemonon of being invisible while the ladies talk to one of our local social dynamos (twice), I proceeded to dance on. The music at Excess is not really my cup of tea; the smile on my face at hearing a classic song becomes forces when I realize it's Another Dub Step Remix. But there is still joy to be had. The joy is it's own reward, but having one of the women who was talking near you later talk WITH you is nice indeed. And when another one of them takes your hand and pulls you up to dance on the catwalk on the couches, what can you do but climb? It has to be said that the catwalk/platform on the back of the couches has to be the most dangerous space I've ever danced on. I have a new found respect for those who perform on it.
Xmortis was memorable as well. The zombie themed night started with high stakes pool with my roommate and Matt. Matt is a small fellow, very unassuming, but an expert pool player. He and Sara are evenly matched, and I do my best to compete. I was very surprised to return to the table after a round of dancing to find him in a screaming match with a girl who accused him of hitting her with a pool stick. Never mind that her speech vacillatd between "you hit me" and "you nearly hit me". AFter a few heated words, I left and aske the bartender to get security. Ten seconds later Matt was on the floor, being grappled and choked. I was seconds, literally seconds from stomping on his attacker but I let security do their job. The woman and her husband had two cronies hanging out egging them on. Matt had no one on his side. No one but me. I stayed with Matt, talking him through his stress and shock, standing with him while the police questioned the other people, and then Matt. The police were very reassuring, and told him if they had any doubts about his story they'd be taking him downtown. Instead they let him walk home, well after the other goons left. It was probably a good decision for me to have my face zombiefied AFTER the police left. You can probably find pictures of it on Facebook.
Sin-O-Matic. It was a smaller night than usual, and my favorite bartender was nowhere to be found. Judging from the reactions of those I asked, she might not be back at all. But there were some familiar faces: one of my dancer friends, the Erics, one of my co-workers. A certain girl from Xcess also made an appearance with a "friend" of hers. This is certainly a lead I will follow up on in the days to come. As it was, I danced and drank and danced some more, and ended the night, as each other night, on a complete high note.
The last week or so has been quiet, thankfully so. My weekend is already overbooked, but manageable with potential adventures. The airline company finally reimbursed me most of my flight money. Withing a month or so I'll be able to start saving again. And the adventures, the adventures will continue.
