For a week the Arlington stop on the Green line crawled with police, national guard, and state police. The city was still in shock, but the public will to rebound from the bombing was strong. Before going to bed Thursday night Sara found out there was a shooting on MIT campus. We both were sick of how awful the week was.

But the week wasn't over yet.

Monday morning I found out that the T was shut down all over Boston. While we slept, the suspects of the bombing had shot an officer at MIT, carjacked a vehicle and fled to Watertown, and got into a big gunfight with the police. If they had made one different turn, they would have driven into Arlington. Before we had eaten breakfast, we learned one bomber was dead, the other in hiding. Everyone in the immediate area around Watertown, (including Boston) were asked to stay indoors and not respond to anyone knocking who wasn't police. Largely people followed this rule. Several businesses were shut down in Arlington, but there were a handful of people out on the streets. Including me.

The dag dragged on, and the news began to feed on itself, recycling stories and wildly speculating. Red herrings sprang up all over the place , as far south as Niagara Falls. At six o'clock, the governor said people could leave their houses, and the bomber was still at large. We all sighed, reached out to friends, and made ready to move onward.

But the day wsan't over yet.

Maybe an hour later, the scanners and news were abuzz about a bloody tarp, over a boat in someone's backyard in Watertown. The police surrounded the area, and confirmed someone was hiding inside. Another tense hour of flash bombing and negotiations, and the second suspect was caught alive, but in very bad shape. The immediate drama of the Boston Marathon bombings had come to close. Now would come the trial, the investigation, and maybe some answers.
