2012 - Past the End of Days

At last, I can go over my review of the last year.

Job: I finished a number of big projects at work this year: deploying new AV system, a new software module that has already saved us lots of time and effort, and updating all our images. I will have plenty to talk about come review time!

Hobbies: I spent a lot of time on Warhammer, after I secured a place on the Canada ETC team. Despite all the effort, my overall tournament placings were lower then last year. I did well at the ETC and all this work resulted in me seeing Europe for the first time in my life! It was an exciting adventure, I'm glad I went. Firespinning is pretty much retired. Spinjam is just at an inconvenient time. I did go to Wildfire once, I had a better time than past years.

Travel: Outside of the usual tournament haunts, Poland and Germany were the big trips this year. I continued the Montreal tradition with Fantasia, and that was an utter blast despite some potentially awkard interactions.

Dating: I went on several OKCupid dates, four or five? Not a one of them resulted in a repeat date. One of my friends wants to help me revamp my profile, I figure I will give it one more good shot.

Social: February was the lowest point of my entire year; and I lost a good friend of mine. Things picked up a lot during the year, returning from Poland was oddly rough on me. It took some time to get my mojo back. Clubbing was 90% fun over the year (also up from last year) with only one particular night proving to be my nemesis. A balance was maintained between parties and gaming.

Wellness: I've stuck with a Crossfit inspired workout through the year, and it continues to work well for me. I may be getting older and entropy is inevitable, but I definitely feel great. My diet is pretty good, and I'm maintaining my weight. The biggest change is internal: after the social blowout in February, I started taking Wellbutrin. It has proved to be a big help, time after time I've been able to keep myself from falling into any deep holes. It hasn't been perfect, but it has helped me with several epiphanies and vastly improving my relationship with myself. Growth continues day by day, and I'm particuarly hopeful about things for 2013

Goals: I didn't set any resolutions for the year, but I did make a list of projects I'd been meaning to do and never did: get rid of the extra tupperwear in the kitchen, fix my stereo sound system, figure out how to level out our dining room table (that is almost done!) I am going to play my saxophone again, and I looked into cello lessons. That may take a while, we'll see how the sax goes first. Once I upgrade my profile, I may get more aggressive in the dating arena.

That was 2012! I'm staring off 2013 by joining the "Dirty Dozen" on a trip to New York to clean up after Hurricane Katrina. Sandy. I have no idea what to expect, the adventure level will be high, and a bit terrifying. Expect a report later.
