Adventures in Natick
Nov. 16th, 2012 12:15 pmI'm writing this post from a barbershop chair in a hallway at the Verve @ Crowne Hotel in Natick. It's a kitschy little booth with strange day-glo pictures of Dean Martin, Marilyn Monroe, and Sammi Davis Jr. smiling at me. Our company held their annual Property Management Assembly, and requested a computer station so people could check their mail and fill out time sheets for their employees. That has been my life since Tuesday morning. Sitting in a barbershop chair between meetings, then hopping up to help the rush of people frantically filling out time sheets, and fixing the odd computer problem.
As work goes, it's a unique experience: my first trade show as it were. All the property managers and their assistants were present, and I got to put a face to many of the voices I've spoken to on the phone. All my meals were covered by the company, including my room for three nights, and a couple of open bar cocktail hours. When you have to be up and manning computers at seven am, you want to get as much sleep as possible! I've started to cultivate a taste for Manhattens.
The meeting has broken out, so it's time to give up my laptop for public use and grab a quick bite to eat.
