I survived the heat of the day last Friday, and spent the evening cooling off at a home made drive in watching Stand By Me and the Lost Boys. Twenty four years later, the movie is still awesome. The rest of the night quickly turned horrible and wretched, no more need be said of it. It was bad enough that my doctor wanted me to revert my monthly appointments back to a weekly one, but I refused. If the weekend was an anomaly, and not a return to business as usual, then things would work themselves out. It could be that I'm too old for reindeer games and parties. Time will tell.

There was a cookout later, a different vibe than the night before, but I was still wary and cautious. It delivered all it promised: good food, pleasant company, a great view of the city. I was content by night's end. Sunday was a bit of wash; a delicious lunch from Redbones about balanced out our lackluster DND session. Decisions about travel took too long, there was an amusing scene at an in, but our one encounter found us hiding from a creature we couldn't hurt. Some negotiations and the DM's whimsy saw the encounter over, finally.

Monday I'm beginning to think are cursed. Work was hellish again, and my sleep was off. I can't seem to settle into the weeks anymore. The clouds were dark and threatening, I took it as omen enough to skip SpinJam and future awkwardness. I passed on Ceremony, and just about everything, retreating to the computer and an early night's sleep.

Time passes. A Dance With Dragons consumed most of my day, as work issues were slow. Excitement for my trip is slowly rising, considering that in 48 hours I'll be in Montreal. Fantasia has usually treated me well. My fifth year could be awesome or awful. Much of that fate lies with me.
